Local CITB Advisor, James Thomas, spoke to the NAS about how NAS Members can benefit from contacting their Local CITB advisor. As of October 2020, James is the Local Advisor for Essex-based CITB Registered employers.
  • To be the local CITB trusted advisor, building effective relationships at local levels, engaging with local decision makers, employer groups and a wide range of stakeholders to attract and support people to enter the sector and ensure the industry has the skills it needs.
  • Local provision of external engagement across a wide range of local employer groups and stakeholders to impact positively on the skills requirements and image of the industry.
  • Enabling the realisation of the industry having the skills it needs through supporting local collaboration between industry, local decision makers and stakeholders.
  • Delivering effective information and advice /signposting to all stakeholders.
  • To be the “Digital Champion” to stakeholders to increase usage and uptake of Digital Service Offering.
  • Building and maintaining local level relationships and engagement across industry collaborative skills activity and projects: key employer accounts, federations’ engagement activity, employer collaborative skills and training groups, local clients, schools, FE & HE.

Skills and Training Fund for small and micro-sized construction businesses

You can apply if:

  • you are a CITB-registered employer
  • you have less than 100 directly employed staff on the payroll
  • any previous project paid for by the Skills and Training fund has been signed off as complete.

You can apply for funding once every 12 months. Here is the link for the full details:

CITB-registered employers can apply for funding related to how many direct employees they have:

Employers with 1 to 49 directly employed staff can receive up to £5,000.

Employers with 50 to 74 directly employed staff can receive up to £7,500.

Employers with 75 to 99 directly employed staff can receive up to £10,000.

Skills and Training Fund for medium-sized construction businesses

You can apply if:

  • you are a CITB-registered employer
  • you have between 100 and 250 directly-employed staff on the payroll
  • any previous project paid for by the Skills and Training fund has been signed off as complete.

You can apply for funding once every 12 months.

How much you can apply for

CITB-registered employers can apply for funding related to how many direct employees they have.

  • Employers with between 100 and 149 directly-employed staff can receive up to £15,000.
  • Employers with between 150 and 199 directly-employed staff can receive up to £20,000.
  • Employers with between 200 and 250 directly-employed staff can receive up to £25,000.
