The Construction Industry Joint Council (CIJC), whose remit includes agreeing rates of wages and other salaries, and fees of building and civil engineering operatives, has published an amendment to the Working Rule Agreement setting the basic minimum pay rates from Wednesday 1st April 2026.
In summary:

General Operative’s weekly base rate has increased to £495.69.

Year 1 Apprentice weekly rates have increased to £312.00.

The changes impact the basic minimum pay rates across all classifications, including Craft and Skill rates.

All other elements of the promulgation have been updated in line with the Working Rule Agreement 2026.

As of 1st April 2026, the National Minimum Wage for apprentices aged 19 to 20 is £10.85 per hour, and the National Living Wage for those aged 21 and over is £12.71 per hour.
