Transitioning from Go Smart to CSCS Smart Check: An Important Update for CSCS Alliance Members

The CSCS Alliance is the voice of the 38 card schemes displaying the CSCS logo, all of whom meet the requirements set out in the Construction Leadership Council’s One Industry Logo action.

All member card schemes displaying the CSCS logo operate with nationally recognised qualifications in place for all occupations, providing assurance that over two million UK construction workers are trained and qualified for the job they do on site.

CSCS Smart Check API & App

Card checking platform, Go Smart, is to be withdrawn by CSCS on March 31st 2024 following the development and roll-out of the CSCS Smart Check API and accompanying app. Employers currently using Go Smart are advised to discuss a transition plan to CSCS Smart Check with their IT provider so that site access and card checking protocols can continue from April 1st, 2024. CSCS Smart Check allows all 2.1 million cards displaying the CSCS logo to be verified using a single interface.

All existing users of Go Smart who wish to retain a card checking function as part of site induction and/or site access solutions should put transition plans in place to move across to CSCS Smart Check as soon as possible to ensure card checks can continue.  CSCS Smart Check is the only platform that can check cards from across all 38 CSCS Alliance schemes, providing employers with a quick, easy and secure way of ensuring everyone has the right CSCS card for the job they do on site

Its API can be built into existing site access systems or card checking equipment while it can also be downloaded as an app via Google Play or the App Store.

What’s changing

  • The Go Smart platform and any system that relies on its API will no longer work or check cards from April 1st 2024.
  • The CSCS Smart Check API and accompanying app is the only platform to check all CSCS-logoed cards from across the 38 CSCS Alliance schemes. (Go Smart only checked cards from a handful of CSCS Alliance schemes.)
  • Sites should discuss with their technology providers a transition plan to use CSCS Smart Check – either as an API within their existing systems or via the app/web portal.
  • The web version of the CSCS Smart Check platform will be launched prior to Go Smart’s switch-off, giving sites another option by which to check cards.
